Day 13: Hemsedal (Norway) → Oslo (Norway)

As is typical of most hotels in Norway – this one has plenty of chargers inside and out.

Including Porsche Destination chargers in prime position.

Today is an easy drive to the capital Oslo – as we get closer – the roads get wider and more "motorway" like.

In this picture you can see the "rumble strip" that is built into every Norwegian road – to tell you where the centre line is. Because – of course – during winter – the lines will likely be covered by snow and ice.

In fact – it is a total novelty for us – being used to winter here – to see the yellow lines on the roads!

We stop at a small hydro dam run by Hafslund Eco and walk across the top of the dam – feeling the mighty power of the falling water under our feet.

Hydro dam

You can feel and hear the kinetic energy everywhere.

The current pulling the water down into the "tunnel" feeding the dam causes a small whirlpool – where it is interesting to see the leaves interacting with it.

We drive on and stop off at a Meteorite Park – where 546 million years ago a 300 meter wide meteorite impacted earth here – leaving a massive crater – now forested – that you can walk into.

The weather improves as we near Oslo.

Driving into the city centre.

Heading into Oslo centre

And park in the now familiar garage under our hotel. Doing our best to avoid the suicidal cyclists and electric scooters darting across – at speed - the pedestrian crossings.

Grabbing a destination charge – for the autobahn in Germany – at the many Mer units here. The only Mer charge we pick up on this trip.

This is the last destination charge – and we managed to get every one we hoped/planned to – making electric vehicle travel more convenient than a petrol car for exploring the fjords.

Familiar destination charge

And head up to our usual hotel here in Oslo – The Thief – where it has its own launch outside.

And a model of it in the lobby.

We head out to a local Indian restaurant that we like here – New Delhi – which is packed with people – glad we made a reservation a few months ago! Oslo is very different in summer.
